Beat the Streets, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, was created with the purpose is to provide prevention and recovery resource awareness to adults and children impacted by addiction in the Central Alabama Region.

An inaugural program was held Saturday, with big crowds and perfect weather.

Beat the Streets focus is on showing the love of Christ while pointing addicts, their families, and the vulnerable community to available resources that provide help and hope.

The inaugural event to raise awareness for the non-profit organization was held in downtown Wetumpka at Gold Star Park, on Saturday, September 24, from 12:00 to 4:00 P. M.

The event hosted Christian music, local speakers who’ve dealt with substance abuse, and plenty of good food. Organizers told EAN the event was very successful, and hopes are to continue similar programs in the future.

Beat the Streets is here to help those in need while also bringing the community together to raise awareness for the resources available in our communities. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services of America organization, nearly 50% of all American families are affected by substance abuse, with 46% of adults reporting dealing with some type of addiction within their immediate families.
