The Holtville Bulldogs took on The Fultondale Wildcats Friday night. There was a 40-minute delay due to an accident on the interstate but once the game began Holtville came out strong. The first play of the game began with a touchdown called back to the 50-yard line due to a holding call against the bulldogs.

Holtville quickly gained the ball back and drove the ball in for a touchdown by number 10 Chasen Webster. They missed the extra point but soon after made a fumble recovery on the 35-yard line.

The Bulldogs pulled off two more touchdowns made by number 4, Shawn Brackett, and two failed two-point conversions. They spent most of the first quarter on their side of the field and ended the quarter with a score of 18-0.

Holtville started the second quarter off right when number 6, Erik Adkins caught a long pass and went down on the 4-yard line. Brackett ran the ball in for a touchdown and the bulldogs pulled off an extra point kick.

Brackett went on to make two more touchdowns in the second quarter.

The Wildcats fumbled the ball midfield where Webster ran the ball down to the twelve-yard line.

A pass was made to Adkins and he made the touchdown. The extra kick was good.

That ended the first half 46-0.

There was an excellent half-time performance from both bands.

In the second half Holtville turned the ball over on their 15-yard line, and when they received the ball again they turned the ball over on downs.

The Bulldogs forced a safety with two minutes left in the third quarter.

The Wildcats made a touchdown in the fourth quarter with seven minutes left then ran it in for the two-point conversion.

The Bulldogs scored another touchdown in the fourth with three minutes left in the game and the kick was good!

When asked what Holtville Principle Kyle Futral thought of the game he said, “This is a really exciting start to the year. Our guys look great and it’s great to see all the hardwork they put in over the summer pay off.”
