My name is Gemma; and I’m a female pit bull terrier mix who has already been spayed. I am about 6 months old. I only weigh 26 pounds; and I probably won’t get much bigger. I might get a little heavier; I do love to eat!
I have a really soft caramel brindle coat and the most beautiful eyes to match. I’m very smart. I taught myself to sit on command. You should’ve seen my foster mom’s face. I like to go on walks; I’m pretty good on a leash. My foster mom says I have sensitive ears because loud noises, like cars, scare me.
But I’m getting better about it. I just need some time to adjust to the real world outside of the shelter. Until I was fostered, I’d lived my whole life in the shelter. My foster mom says I need to be socialized, but I think I’m pretty social already. I am learning a lot from my foster siblings about just being a dog. I make my foster mom very happy when I go to the bathroom outside; she’s not very happy with me when I don’t, but I don’t like to go outside by myself.
I’m good about sleeping in my crate at bedtime, but I sure wouldn’t mind if you wanted me to snuggle with you at night. I’m ready for my forever home. If you are interested in meeting me, please email my foster mom at claddaghsoul@yahoo.com and she will set up a meet and greet with you.
Our adoption fee is $120.00 for dogs and $50.00 for cats. This fee covers a microchip, microchip registration, discounted spay/neuter, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices.
Unless otherwise indicated under “special needs” our dogs have screened heart worm negative.
The shelter is located at 1009 Reuben Road in Prattville. Our regular hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 am until 4 pm. We are closed the last Thursday of the month for staff training. Adoptions are currently by appointment only.
