The Prattville Speech and Debate team had another successful year. Competing in nine tournaments throughout the state, team members excelled in their individual events while facing the toughest opponents in Alabama and the Southeast.
The team finished the year by qualifying three team members – Jeeah Kim, Jasmin Outlaw and Brooklyn Woods – to the prestigious National Speech and Debate tournament, which will be held this June in Louisville, Kentucky. Additionally, Jeeah Kim won an individual state championship at the Alabama Speech and Debate State tournament while Brooklyn Woods picked up two state championships at the tournament.
The team finished third in the state in Individual Events competition.
Finally, coach, Katy Olienyk was inducted into the Alabama Speech and Debate Coaches Hall of Fame at the state competition. Mrs. Olienyk is finishing her sixteenth year as Prattville’s head coach.
