Prattville Lions Softball: Team Advancing to State Tournament Next Week after win over Daphne

The Prattville Lions won their rematch with Daphne on Thursday afternoon, defeating the Trojans 4-2 in the 7A Central Regional at Lagoon Park to advance to the state tournament next week.

Prattville (26-18) will play Central-Phenix City on Wednesday in an opening round game in the 7A state tournament at 9 a.m. in Oxford.

The Lions lost their opening round game in the regional to Daphne 9-6, then defeated area rival Enterprise to earn a rematch.

In the second game, Jessica Cord went the distance, allowing just two runs on six hits while striking out three in seven innings of work.

At the plate, Kylie Jarman went 2 for 4 and scored a run, Kaylee Robles went 4 for 4 and scored a run, Sarah Grace Jones went 2 for 4, scored a run and drove in a run and Jayden Kendrick went 1 for 2 and drove in a run. Magen Baker and Kaytie Chandler both had RBIs as well.

Cord was also the losing pitcher in the opening round game as both teams put on an offensive show. Jarman went 1 for 2 with three walks and two runs scored, Robles went 2 for 4 and drove in a pair of runs, Cord went 1 for 2 with a pair of walks and a double and Jones went 1 for 3 with a double and drove in a pair of runs.

The Lions earned the rematch by defeating area rival Enterprise for the third time in two weeks, rallying from a 1-0 deficit to beat the Wildcats 2-1. Jarman got the win in the circle, going 6.1 innings and giving up five hits and a run while striking out five. Cord got the final two outs to earn the save.

At the plate, Jarman went 1 for 4 and scored a run, Robles went 1 for 3, Cord went 1 for 3 and drove in both of the Lions’ runs, Magen Baker went 2 for 3 and both Pyper Castro and Kadance Horton went 1 for 3.
