Stanhope Elmore High School Third Round of Playoffs Send Off

UPDATED: SEHS Varsity Baseball Team lost the 1st game 8-6 to Hillcrest, and 2nd game they lost 7-1 to Hillcrest. Even though their season is over, we are very proud of the SEHS Varsity Baseball Team and all of their accomplishments.

The SEHS Baseball team were headed to the 3rd Round of playoffs for the first time since 2006. The team headed to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to play Hillcrest at 4:30 p.m. and another game at 7:00 p.m. If they win both games today, they will head home with a victory and wait for the semi-championship game. A group of parents and supporters in front of SEHS cheering on the team, was escorted by the Millbrook Police Department. The Millbrook Police Department escorted the team from Stanhope Elmore High School to the first turn off to Interstate 65. 

Other supporters included; City Council President Michael Gay, Robinson Springs UMC, River Region Vision Source, Gene Jones Insurance, River Bank Trust, Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce, City of Millbrook, First Community Bank, and Liveoak Agency, Inc., which Larry Liveoak played for the Mustangs back in 1972-1975 all came out to support the Mustangs headed to the playoffs. 

SEHS Baseball Team Head Coach is Kaleb Shuman. This is his third season coaching. He has been coaching baseball since 2013 and was hired as the Head Coach for SEHS in May of 2019. Wade Atchley is the Assistant Coach. Craig McDaniel is the Pitching Coach. Jake Brewer is the Hitting Coach. Caleb Stinchcomb is the JV/Middle School Coach. Joe Mason is the development of the team Coach. The SEHS Baseball team is a 6A Division team which consists of 22 players and five coaches. 

Kaleb Shuman spoke to EAN about heading to the 3rd round of playoffs. “Today, I’m looking forward to watching my guys play today, I love seeing the passion, energy, and love my team has to offer. I am proud of them, and proud of all of their accomplishments as well. They always go above and beyond in everything they do. No matter if we win or lose, I will always be proud of them,” said Shuman.
