Two new Assistant Principals were introduced to the community at last week’s meeting of the Elmore County Board of Education.

A work session was followed by a special called meeting Thursday to take care of personnel items as well as approve bids for work at Wetumpka and Millbrook schools.

April Emmanuel was named the new Assistant Principal for Millbrook Middle School and Jaclyn Taylor was named the new Assistant Principal for Redland Middle School.

The Board accepted all 31 items on its Personnel Action Sheet, which ranged from hiring six new employees to accepting nine transfers, three leaves of absence, two resignations, three retirements and eight school teams.

The Board also accepted a proposed salary schedule addition for the Child Nutrition Program. The move created a pay scale for a nine- month, eight-hour-a-day child nutrition worker slot.  The only category the Board had for a CNP worker was a nine- month seven-hour-a-day child nutrition worker.

Custom Floor Covering of Millbrook won the low bid in the amount of $1.16 per square foot to remove and reinstall classroom furniture as needed due to a flooring scheduled throughout the county.

Custom Canvas Awning of Coosada was the low bidder to install metal awnings at two schools. The School Board will pay $22,535.00 for a metal awning at the Wetumpka Child Development Program and $17,892.00 for a metal awning at Millbrook Middle School.

Garner Electric of Millbrook won a bid for electrician services. The Board approved spending up to $50,000 per year as needed. Labor will cover one licensed or certified electrician, one helper, one truck with all tools necessary at the cost of $120 per hour (straight time) weekdays 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and $180 per hour (overtime) nights, weekends and holidays. A consultant fee of $150 per hour was approved for when contractor is asked to consult on a problem. (Fee is waived if job is awarded to contractor)
