During Tuesday’s Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition Luminary award ceremony, Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce members and leaders in the area came together to celebrate those who have made a difference in the community.

In partnership with the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition presented the 2022 Prattville-Autauga Character Luminary Awards during the chamber’s regular luncheon, which was hosted by Arrow Pest Control.

Also celebrated at the same time were the Excellence in Character Scholarships, which were received by two well-deserving and talented students.

The Character Luminary categories included Business of Character, Organization of Character, Citizen of Character, Student of Character and Educator of Character.

For the Business of Character award, Prattville Baptist Hospital was honored because of its courage, compassion and sensitivity in dealing with Covid and treating families with respect.

Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center was awarded the Organization of Character for their compassion, boldness and patience in helping children and families who have been victimized.

The Citizen of Character award went to Roy McAuley for his dependability, generosity and loyalty for his many years of service in the community including with the City Fest committee and as a longtime part of the Prattville-Millbrook Sunrise Rotary Club.

Lily Catherine Givens, who was honored for being available, gentle and responsible, was given the Student of Character award.

The Educator of Character winner, Susan Andrea Rhodes, was honored for her enthusiasm, generosity and loyalty to the school system and recognized for teaching at Prattville Kindergarten for 25 years.

The two Excellence in Character Scholarships of $3,500 were awarded to graduating senior Amelia Robbins and post-secondary student Christian M. Walker.

Robbins currently attends Prattville High School and will be attending the University of South Alabama in the fall. Walker currently attends Auburn University and is pursuing a degree in Wildlife Enterprise Management.

The Prattville-Autauga Character Coalition works to strengthen the community by promoting excellence in character for each citizen by highlighting good character traits, providing educational resources, partnering with character clubs, and recognizing those who have exemplified excellent character in their daily lives to strengthen their homes, schools, neighborhoods, and communities.
