The expansion of the Elmore County Technical Center was celebrated today with a ribbon cutting to present a new wing at the facility. This represents a huge advancement in technical education for Elmore County and paving the way for the future.
ECTC will host programs for aviation, plumbing, construction, Medical Science, HVAC, welding, public safety and law and electrical work.
In attendance were many city officials including Mayor Jerry Willis of Wetumpka, Elmore County Board of Education board members, Walter Mckee, the architect who designed the wing, and a large number of others from the surrounding communities.
Elmore County Commission Chairman Troy Stubbs spoke about the importance of education to the community and the Commission. “We believe that education is the heartbeat of our community. We will ensure that our education programs flourish,” said Stubbs.
The next step for the technical school and city is to build a fully functional and regulated fire house across from the school for the students to pursue hands-on education in that field.
Today organizers held a push ceremony to welcome a new Fire truck to Elmore County Technical Center.
Also included in the celebration today was a tour of the facility to showcase all eight of the new programs included in the new wing.
Elmore County School Board Chairman Michael R Morgan posted photos to social media, saying, “It was a wonderful day for education and opportunity in Elmore County as we cut the ribbon on the new facility at the Elmore County Career Tech Center! Every Student Empowered, Every Student Succeeds!”
