Millbrook Man in Custody After Officers Respond to Burglar Alarm on Main Street

FROM CHIEF P.K. JOHNSON

MILLBROOK POLICE DEPARTMENT

On Friday, February 25, 2022, at approximately 6:13 PM, Millbrook police officers responded to a residential burglary alarm in the 1800 block of Main Street. Responding officers discovered that the residence had been forcibly entered upon arrival. Officers made entry into the residence and cleared the building, finding no one inside. The homeowner/victim, who was not at the residence at the time the offense occurred, confirmed that property had been taken from the residence.  Responding officers were given a description of a possible suspect, who had been observed at the residence, being a black male wearing a hoodie/dark clothing.

Officers responding to the area were able to establish a perimeter near the residence, as officers at the scene cleared the residence. Officers observed and detained an individual, who matched the description given of the possible burglary suspect, in the 2100 block of Boxwood Drive, which is a short distance from the scene. The suspect, later identified as Eric Tyrome Martin, a 53 year-old Millbrook resident, was found to be in possession of property, which was confirmed to have been stolen from the residence in question.

Martin was transported to the Millbrook Police Department, where he was turned over to detectives from the department’s Criminal Investigations Unit. Martin was later placed under arrest, being charged with Burglary 3rd Degree and Theft of Property 3rd Degree. Martin was processed and later transported to the Elmore County Jail, where he remains under no bond, pending warrants being obtained and served.

This is an example of outstanding police work. If you drew it (our response) up on a chalk board, it wouldn’t look better. The offender was taken into custody without incident, turned over to our detectives, who completed their investigation and made the arrest.

In speaking with our investigators, we are currently working on several recent burglaries that have been committed in the same area, as the one that occurred last night. We anticipate pursuing additional charges against the alleged offender with regard to some of these other cases. I want to commend our officers and investigators that responded to this call last night.
