UPDATE: The Millbrook Police Department has officially notified CrimeStoppers of the arrest of theft suspect Michael Lashawn Nelson. Nelson is no longer wanted by Law Enforcement.
Michael Lashawn Nelson turned himself over to Millbrook Police on November 23, 2021, at approximately 7:00 pm after seeing his photo and name on a CrimeStoppers media release.
Michael Lashawn Nelson was officially served warrants for Theft of Property 1st, Theft of Property 3rd, and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. Nelson allegedly committed these crimes on October 31, 2021, at approximately 8:30 pm.

Michael Lashawn Nelson has warrants secured through the Millbrook Police Department for Theft of Property 1st, Theft of Property 3rd, and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. Nelson committed the crimes on October 31, 2021 at approximately 8:30 pm.
Patrol Officers responded to the Hill, Liquor, & Wine Store located in the 100 block of Kelley Boulevard, Millbrook Alabama. The victim reported that Michael Nelson stole her (white in color) 2011 Nissan Altima. Nelson was captured on surveillance using the store’s phone. Afterwards, Nelson was seen exiting the store, where he jumped into the victim’s vehicle, fleeing the parking lot traveling east. In addition, Nelson stole the victim’s iPhone 12 that was left inside the vehicle.
The reported vehicle was recovered on November 1, 2021 by the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office. Nelson wrecked the victim’s vehicle which resulted in an undisclosed amount of damages. The vehicle was located, but the iPhone is still missing.
