Editor’s Note: The Parade of pumpkins will be on display through Halloween. There are a lot of photo opportunities for families, shopping and dining choices as well. The Prattville Parade of Pumpkins opened Friday in downtown Main Street, joined with a Spooktacular shopping opportunity with businesses.
The Shoppes of downtown Prattville were open later than normal for great sales, giveaways, and yummy refreshments. Live entertainment, haunted displays in the downtown district windows, as well decorated pumpkins that lined the street were enjoyed. Hundreds of people were out shopping and listening to the sweet sound of music performed by Cam & Caryl, a dynamic mother/son duo.
Cam, son of Caryl Lawson, was performing in front of the Kudzu and Cotton shop.
Kudzu and Cotton have been in business for a total of four years, the past two years in Prattville. Katie Castaneza and Chris Beazley are the owners of the Kudzu and Cotton shop.
Castaneza said “We have been very busy tonight with the amount of people that have come through in our store. This is our second year at this event, and we had more people to come in and shop this year than we did last year.”
They offer boutique, gifts, art, monogramming and home décor. For more information check out their website at: www.kudzuandcotton.com or their Facebook: www.facebook.com/kudzuandcottoncompany Or call 334-224-9728.
Another great place to check out at the downtown Prattville shoppes is the West Main CoffeeHouse and Creamery. Cuthbertson said, “We have almost opened up for an entire year now, and sales are doing great!” For more information check out their Facebook page at: www.Facebook.com/westmaincoffeehouseandcreamery Or call 334-568-2100.
Saturday evening on Oct. 23rd, Sara Compton will be performing live inside the West Main CoffeeHouse and Creamery shop.
The Annual Parade of Pumpkins is on display beginning now through October 31st. There were hundreds of families that came out on the first night of the Parade of Pumpkins event.
City of Prattville featured carved and decorated pumpkins from the community. The downtown Prattville shoppes had festive Halloween store front displays, many spooky decorations throughout, and a new GLOW trail that lights up as well.
Food trucks will be available for people to purchase food items each night until the 31st. They are located down by the fountains where the display tents are located off Court Street.
This event is family friendly and FREE and open to anyone who wants to come and enjoy these amazing pumpkin displays the community created.
You still have time to create your own pumpkin by carving, decorating, or painting it and place it on display along the parade or drop them off in the designated Pumpkin drop-off areas. Make sure you cut a 1” hole out in the bottom of the pumpkin so the city workers can put a light on the inside.
Be sure to enter your pumpkin in the “Best Pumpkin” of Parade of Pumpkins Contest for a $100 prize or many other prizes from the local shoppes of downtown Prattville. Please go to http://binkd.co/2ggxz to enter your pumpkin in for a chance for a prize.
