TUSCALOOSA, ALA. –  The University of Alabama has crowned Lindsay Fincher, a senior majoring in theatre and political science of Wedowee, as Miss UA 2021. Twelve women competed in the annual program at the Bama Theatre Saturday, Sept. 19, 2021.

Additional students honored during the program include:

Mary Catherine Dulaney is the first runner-up to the 2021-22 Miss University of Alabama program. Dulaney, from Ozark, Ala., also won the talent scholarship.

Hadley Abram of Bloomington, Ind., finished second runner-up to Miss UA.

Madison Chapman of Helena, Ala., finished third runner-up to Miss UA.

Sophia Causie, a native of Concord, Mich., finished fourth runner-up to Miss UA.

Tionna Taite of Montgomery, Ala., competed in the 2021-22 Miss University of Alabama program. Taite won the “Spirit of Alabama” scholarship award.

Priscilla Olson won the Social Impact scholarship award during the 2021-22 Miss University of Alabama program.

Birmingham, Ala., native Olivia Smith won the People’s Choice Scholarship Award during the 2021-22 Miss University of Alabama program.

Gracelyn Coker of Alabaster, Ala., won the Social Media Scholarship at the 2021-22 Miss University of Alabama program.

The Miss University of Alabama Program is an official preliminary competition of the Miss Alabama and Miss America Organizations and is open to any female student with a minimum 2.5 GPA enrolled full-time at The University of Alabama’s Tuscaloosa Campus. The program operates under the franchise granted by the Miss America Organization and is fully self-supporting, receiving no operational funding from the University. The Miss University of Alabama Program is in its 46th year and is sponsored by the University of Alabama National Alumni Association with Carol W. Wright serving as program Director for the past 26 years.

Each year the titleholder represents the Capstone at the Miss Alabama competition in Birmingham in June and, if crowned Miss Alabama, represents the State of Alabama at the Miss America competition. Miss University of Alabama receives a full-tuition scholarship for her year of service to the University, two book scholarships provided by the University Supply Stores, and numerous other gifts from sponsoring organizations. All income from the Miss UA Program provides scholarships and operational support to the winner throughout her year of service to the University.
