Masks Now Optional in Elmore County Public Schools; Covid Numbers Decreasing

FROM RICHARD DENNIS

SUPT. OF ELMORE COUNTY SCHOOLS

COVID-19 numbers have decreased again this past week with 5 employees and 55 students having reported tested positive. With the decreased numbers, masks will be optional for students and employees beginning Monday, September 27, 2021.

Over the first five weeks of this school year,  936 students have reported testing positive compared to 710 for the entirety of last year. Over 2,100 students were quarantined due to direct contact so far this year compared to over 4,000 students last year. Our current Elmore County student and employee numbers are back to a level compared to the start of school and we expect it to continue to drop.

Having said that, social distancing is not possible at base schools, so we encourage students and employees to take any necessary precautions, especially if they have underlying health issues. We will continue to monitor the health status of Elmore County Schools and make adjustments as necessary.

Finally, if you would prefer to get my call outs and other system-wide communications texted to you through Remind, visit the Elmore County Public Schools website and follow the registration process.

We appreciate your support; enjoy this beautiful weather.
