Back on 1 May the awesome family at the Thirsty Turtle in Millbrook held a Derby Party fundraiser for our Shelter that raised over $2000! What an awesome start to what may very well be an annual and fun event!  We are immensely grateful to all who made this happen and would like to thank them all starting with the committee members: Dana Simon, Michele Warhurst, Tommi Lee Alford, Becky Adams, Mary Nixon, Kristen Mosheim, Michele Monroe Burdell and Melody Cogburn.

There is a HUGE list of donors to thank, and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year. It certainly was nice getting back together in a group setting again and that they did this to help our Shelter was just the icing on the cake! So many thanks to all who attended and these donors of money, items for auction, in-kind donations and so much more who made it such a success: Thirsty Turtle, Millbrook Revelers, Realty Connection, Food Outlet, Rescue Me Plumbing, Carpet Place, Kelley Accounting and Tax Service, Capital Pawn Shop, Liveoak Agency Inc., Cloverdale Jewelers, Sissy Ballentine, Amy Strickland, James Snider, Jr., Richard Sample, Kelly M. Morrell, Southern Yankee BBQ – Jude Rutknowski, Barry Warhurst, Donnie Mills, One More on the River, Jerry Adams, Sniffanies, Smokehouse BBQ, Hamilton Signs and Mike Henby.

Looking ahead, we do have Bark in the Park 2021 on the calendar for Sunday, 19 September from 1-5 pm!  There will be plenty of fun for human and dog alike with the Blessing of the Animals, Pet Parade, Microchip Clinic, Pet Picasso Paw Painting, various vendors, yummy food, and more.

Vendor spots are still available, and Bark in the Park is a great place for folks to be able to learn about your business, product or service.  We welcome local businesses, clubs, civic groups, etc. Our Vendor fee is a measly $35 and you must bring your own tables/pop-up/chairs. There is no electricity available so if you must bring a generator please let us know for site planning. To get a Vendor Application please contact us at the shelter at hselco@bellsouth.net or call us at 334-567-3377.
