Car lovers of all ages united on Sunday afternoon, as people from all around the river region flocked to downtown Prattville to get a glimpse of the past and present.

Cars from all eras lined the green space next to the Autauga Creek dam, showing off Corvettes, Mustangs, and many more cars dating back from the 1940s – present day.

The temperature was sweltering, but that didn’t stop the event from taking off – much to the delight of Richard Gamette, co-coordinator for the car show and owner of Fountain City Nutrition in Downtown Prattville.

“I love the community support that we’re seeing today. It shows that people are ready to go out, celebrate and live life again,” Gamette said. “I, along with the City of Prattville, thought that this would be a good event to test to waters for the rest of summer. And, I’ve got to tell you, if this is an idea of what’s to come, then I’m excited about this summer and the future for cruising with the oldies.”

Hundreds of people shuffled in and out as the event went on throughout the afternoon. Some cars even showed up last minute, Gamette said.

“Just a couple of days ago we had about 30 cars in our lineup, and it’s looking like that will just about double today,” Gamette said.

In fact, it did. Well over 50 cars attended the event, providing the audience with much look at over the course of three hours.

“I’m pleased beyond words,” Gamette said.

Gamette, Fountain City Nutrition employees, and the City of Prattville Special Events Office all helped to organize the event.
