And Starling has been forging relationships with people in the tri-county area long before he was a member of the Millbrook Chamber of Commerce.
Starling first got his feet wet in the printing industry back in 1987, when he worked for his father at Montgomery Living Press. After the company was bought out in 1993, Starling began to look elsewhere for a job.
“After working with Montgomery Living Press I realized that this is what I wanted to do for a living. And in 1998, I was offered a job by an old boss at MLP, Bill Johnson. He was starting his own business named ‘Publications Press’,” Starling said.
And from that point forward, the rest was history.
Starling accepted the job offer and began working for Johnson in ’98. His hard-work and dedication to the company did not go unnoticed, and in 2011, he was named president of the company.
“It’s been a fun ride, watching how the industry has changed over the years. We used to only deal with magazines back in the early 2000s, but now a lot of things are done entirely different. I would have never of even thought about digital printing with variable data back in 1998,” Starling said.
But even with the changing times, Starling is still having a fun time helping to run the company.
“We’ve become one the largest growing community press corporations in the country. We typically only sell products as far as Dallas and south of New York State, but we’ve gone as far as California, Maine and the Virgin Islands,” Starling said.
