HSEC Pet of the Week: While Dorothy has Special Needs, She has A Lot of Love to Offer

Pet of the Week – Dorothy

Dorothy is a special needs lady, ten-years-old, 50 lbs and worth the “extra.”  She came to us in pitiful condition and is now doing fantastic.  She is housetrained, walks wonderfully on a leash, is great with other dogs of all sizes and both sexes, is good with cats. She eats in her crate but prefers sleeping in the bed with her human.  She is perfect in the house, quiet, but also quite playful.  Her special needs are that she has a condition called Cushings requiring daily medications and is on a long-term treatment for heartworms.  Dorothy deserves a loving home that can see to her medical needs and she will repay with a ton of love.

Our adoption fees are $100 for dogs and $50 for cats under one-year-old; cats over one-year-old can be adopted by approved adopters for a fee of their choosing.  This adoption fee completely covers the mandatory spay or neuter, basic immunizations, de-worming, microchip, heartworm check for dogs, rabies vaccination if old enough, free health exam with your participating veterinarian.

If you are interested in meeting Dorothy or any of our pets, please first email us at hselco@bellsouth.net for our Adoption Application.  Once that is cleared, we will coordinate with you to set up an appointment to meet and adopt.  We are not doing walk-in adoptions.

We are located at 255 Central Plank Road, Wetumpka, AL, 36092, our phone number is 334-567-3377 and our website is www.elmorehumane.org for more information.
