With years of experience caring for families, Brookside Funeral Home has become the River Regions funeral home of choice.
Chris Thompson, owner and operator of Brookside, began working on the premises in 1995 before the funeral home was built and was only a cemetery.
In November of 1997, the funeral home was opened, and Thompson worked there until his purchase of Brookside in 2003. In 2004 he tore down the then standing building and built the new facility that’s there now.
Brookside has been a Chamber Member since 1995. When asked what benefits he received in being a Chamber member Chris said “As a past president of the Chamber, I know the hard work put in by them. It’s so important that local Chambers help promote local and independent businesses as well as the corporate businesses and our Chamber does an excellent job of that. I believe they are vital to the communities’ success.”
Brookside is a full-service Funeral Home, Crematorium and Memorial Gardens. They also provide their own monuments and bronze memorials.
They are in the process of expanding and adding an event center that they hope to have finished in 2021.
This 1200 Sq. foot expansion will make it possible to hold receptions after funerals. It will also be available for showers and events for those in the community that would like to rent it. “We will have a florist and a full-service catering menu,” said Thompson.
Brookside continues to hold services during COVID and run at 50 percent capacity. They disinfect daily and sometimes twice daily. They require masks, check temperatures at the door and provide sanitizing stations throughout the facility.
