A memorial service was held on Nov. 8, 2020 for Jimmy “Jimbo” Brand, one of Santuck Fire Department’s first members. Family and friends planted a Maple Tree in his honor, dedicating it with a memorial plaque.
Jimmy “Jimbo” Leon Brand, age 78, passed away Monday August 31, 2020 after a short illness. Jimbo built one of the first fire trucks for Santuck Fire department and his Brother “Bab” was one of the first chiefs. Santuck Fire Department was formed about 1975 in the small community of Elmore County.
Many stories were told, especially of his woodworking skills, his hotrod days, and the time he told current Santuck Chief Tommy Sanford he didn’t like snakes. Rev. Bill Coleman and Rev. Tex Grier, also spoke at the memorial along with a few other friends.
Jimbo was a Navy veteran, and worked at Hobart, delivered propane at one point, and eventually retired from Union Camp Paper Mill in 2008. He was married to his wife Faye for 31 years, and has numerous children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
