USDA ReConnect Grant Award Announcement Coming Tomorrow Relating to Broadband Access Locally

PRATTVILLE— Bette Brand, Deputy Under Secretary for Rural Development, USDA, will make an announcement regarding Broadband ReConnect Grant awards on October 23 at 11:30 a.m. at Central Alabama Electric Cooperative’s headquarters. Brand will be joined by USDA State Director Chris Beeker and other dignitaries.

The USDA Broadband ReConnect Program furnishes loans and grants to provide funds for the costs of construction, improvement or acquisition of facilities and equipment needed to provide broadband service in eligible rural areas.

For sometime Central Alabama Electric, through Central Access, has been working to make high-speed internet possible for more rural areas locally.

Central Access, a subsidiary of Central Alabama Electric Cooperative, is working to provide rural Alabamians with high quality, lightning fast Internet from a local agency.
