The Opelika Police Department is currently investigating incidents of an unknown male and female using a cash register scam to steal merchandise from retailers.

On 9/12/2020 at approximately 10:09 A.M. an unknown male and an unknown female entered Target and fraudulently scanned a Ring doorbell camera and an Elvie breast pump at the self-checkout register. They then took them to an employee to remove the security webbing. The value of the two items were $748.00. The items were put into a bag and the male left the store while the female made a small purchase of two other items.

The suspects are described as a white male with a tribal tattoo on his left arm wearing a green tank top and gray shorts and a white female wearing a maroon tank top and green pants. The two subjects left in an unknown type black SUV.
