This morning residents, community leaders and first responders gathered at the Public Safety Building in Prattville to remember those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on this country 19 years ago, to the day.

Sept. 11, 2001 is a time when anyone old enough to remember, can tell you exactly where they were and what they were doing when they first heard the news.

This morning the speeches inspired area residents, and Americans, to stand strong, to remember the sacrifices, and to never forget. As time goes by, they said they fear that people will become complacent to those tragic incidents that took thousands of lives. They asked for residents to remember that even today, first responders and those who ran toward the danger but survived, are dealing with health issues because of what they came in contact with trying to help.

Autauga County Probate Judge Kim Kervin helped organize the event this morning, and wanted to thank everyone for attending and those who helped make it a memorable and honorable event.

“Thank you Rylee Hall (Justin Hall and Adrienne Bradley Hall) for leading our community in the pledge of allegiance at the 9/11 Memorial Ceremony this morning,” Kervin said. “Thank you to Peyton Hill, senior pastor for First Baptist Church of Prattville, who gave a great message.”

Breakfast was provided by the Alabama Bar Association.
