When Martin Prado, owner of San Marco’s in Millbrook, opened in Dec. 21, 2015, he knew there would be challenges. The restaurant business, in general, faces obstacles.
But he could have never foreseen COVID-19.
The family-dining restaurant serves up fresh Tex-Mex food and has a great menu for adult beverages as well.
Working with his team, Prado moved forward under new regulations, social distancing and take-out. Over time the restaurant has reopened to seated dining, but safety is still at the forefront of their operations.
“It has been a challenge, but we have some very faithful and loyal customers, and without them it is hard to say where we would be right now,” Prado said.
Along with loyal customers, the Millbrook Chamber of Commerce also launched video projects, featuring local businesses and detailing how service would continue through the Pandemic.
Over the past months all local restaurants have had to be creative, and San Marco’s was definitely one of them. They instituted a way for customers to use their cell phones rather than having to handle a menu. They spaced out seating, and followed state mandates.
Now six months into the Pandemic, it is hoped the day will soon arrive when the worst is over, and some type of normalcy arrives back across the country.
Until then, Martin said his staff puts safety first for all of their customers, and is so thankful for the support the business has received.
