Boyd Hodge, of Millbrook, Killed at CAEC West Operations Center in Verbena in Accident

The Millbrook community is hearing that tragic news that one of their own was tragically killed this morning in an accident in Verbena, while working at the Central Alabama Electric Cooperative’s (CAEC) West Operations Center. Boyd Hodge was a 1986 graduate of Stanhope Elmore High School. We send our sincere condolences to his extended family and friends.

Below is a brief news release from CAEC. The accident is under investigation.

PRATTVILLE—This morning, Aug. 17, 2020, a tragic accident occurred at Central Alabama Electric Cooperative’s (CAEC) West Operations Center (located in Verbena) that took the life of Journeyman Lineman Boyd Hodge. Hodge was a 24-year veteran with CAEC, beginning his career on Jan. 8, 1996. At this time the accident is under investigation.

Grief counseling is being made available to employees. The cooperative is grieving with the Hodge family at this tremendous loss.

CAEC is a not for profit, member-owned electric distribution utility serving more than 42,000 meters in a 10-county area of central Alabama just north of Montgomery. The cooperative’s service area covers most of the rural areas of Autauga, Elmore, Coosa and Chilton counties as well as members in Tallapoosa, Talladega, Bibb, Perry, Dallas and Lowndes counties.
