New Fire Fighter Turnout Gear Available for Autauga County Technology Center Students

FROM AUTAUGA COUNTY TECHNOLOGY CENTER (ACTC)

Students enrolled in the Fire Science program at the Autauga County Technology Center (ACTC) will be wearing new gear this fall.  Thanks to our partnership with the Autauga County Firefighter’s Association, we were able to acquire the new turn out gear for students.  Mr. Scott Ninesling has worked diligently to get this program started.

Mr. Ninesling wrote the FEMA grant to secure funds for an instructor and other materials for the training program.  Last year, we hired Mr. Devin Driver, a retired firefighter, to instruct the students at the ACTC.  As needs arise for the program, Mr. Ninesling always looks for solutions for equipment that are not available for purchase within the parameters of the grant.

Mr. Ninesling went the extra mile to provide this turn out gear for our students. He took a trip to New York to pick up the gear for our students, due to the generosity of the Terry Farrell Firefighter Fund. The fund received the gear from other departments and made it available for donation.  The ACTC administration and faculty are grateful to Mr. Ninesling for his diligence in giving back to the community in which he lives and to his alma mater, the Autauga County Technology Center.

Mr. Ninesling took automotive classes at the ACTC and served as a VICA National Officer in high school.  Due to his background in firefighting and being a paramedic, we were fortunate to have him serve here as an instructor for our Health Science program.  We look forward to another successful year!
