One of Prattville’s favorite holiday traditions is getting a new twist this Christmas.
Prattville Parks and Recreation announced this morning, the addition of the Christmas in Prattville Express, a trackless train that will take families on festive Christmas light tours through Historic Downtown Prattville. The new attraction will replace the carousel that was part of Christmas in Prattville in previous years, offering residents and visitors a new way to experience the city’s holiday celebration.
The Christmas in Prattville Express is designed to immerse riders in the sights and sounds of the season as it winds through downtown, showcasing sparkling light displays, decorated storefronts and the holiday charm that has made Christmas in Prattville a destination for families across the region.
As the annual event continues to grow, Parks and Recreation officials said they are committed to introducing new attractions that enhance the experience while preserving the community spirit that has made Christmas in Prattville a beloved tradition.
“Christmas in Prattville has always been about creating magical memories for families,” said Kellie Carter, director of Prattville Parks and Recreation. “While the carousel created wonderful memories over the years, we’re always looking for ways to continue growing this event and giving our guests something new to experience. The Christmas in Prattville Express lets families enjoy our beautifully decorated downtown in a way they’ve never experienced before, and we believe it will quickly become a new holiday tradition.”
Officials said the trackless train will not only provide a unique holiday experience but also increase the number of guests who can enjoy one of the city’s signature Christmas events. The attraction allows riders to take in the beauty of Historic Downtown Prattville from a different perspective while encouraging families to spend more time exploring the downtown area.
The project also reflects the department’s continued investment in creating family-friendly experiences that support local businesses during one of the busiest shopping seasons of the year.
To help fund the new attraction, a significant portion of the cost of the Christmas in Prattville Express will be covered through sponsorships from local businesses and community partners. Parks and Recreation officials said those partnerships allow the city to continue expanding the event while being responsible stewards of public funds. Sponsors will also have the opportunity to be part of one of Prattville’s most anticipated annual celebrations while gaining visibility throughout the holiday season.
Additional details, including operating dates, ticket prices, ride schedules and sponsorship opportunities, will be announced in the coming months.
For many families, Christmas in Prattville has become an annual tradition centered on making memories together. This year, city leaders hope the Christmas in Prattville Express will add another chapter to that tradition, giving children and adults alike a new way to experience the magic of Christmas in downtown Prattville for years to come.
