Early Morning Accident Leaves One Dead, One Jailed for Suspicion of DUI in Elmore County

A single-vehicle accident overnight in Elmore County has claimed the life of a passenger, and the driver is in jail suspected of driving under the influence.

It was a very busy night for area law enforcement agencies in Autauga and Elmore County, and we are reaching out to officials to get more information on various activity.  It was the first full night of the ordered shutdown, where all residents were asked to stay at home, other than essential personnel, or getting out for necessities.

Elmore County deputies, first responders, Redland Fire Department and Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency responded to a single vehicle accident around 4:40 a.m. on Dozier Road.

“MONTGOMERY POST – A single-vehicle crash at 4:40 a.m. today, Apr. 5, has claimed the life of a McMinnville, OR man. Kevin Mara, 31, was killed when the 2015 Chevrolet Sonic, in which he was the passenger, left the roadway and struck a fence. Mara was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, Alexis Danielle Wright, 22, of Wetumpka was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and transported to the Elmore County Jail. Wright was not injured. The crash occurred on Dozier Road near Woodhaven Trail, approximately 5 miles east of Wetumpka. Nothing further is available as ALEA State Troopers continue to investigate.”
