The Prattville Lions football team is on a recruiting scorcher this summer, and Tuesday morning saw wide receiver Deshawn Hall commit to Auburn over the other finalist, Penn State. Hall had dozens of offers from big time programs like Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Michigan and Ohio State.
Hall chose the Tigers during a live commitment ceremony with Rivals.com. He brought out the Prattville mascot who revealed an Auburn jersey to a loud celebration among his family, teammates, and coaches.”
“War Eagle,” said Hall. Speaking to rivals.com, Hall explained why Auburn was the best program for him. “The people out there, Coach Golesh, Coach KB, Assistant Wide Receiver Coach Parker, it’s great. It’s a great atmosphere, and it’s less than an hour from here. It means something to be able to do it in your home state. They really welcomed me with open arms. I feel like it was definitely the best decision…These last two weeks have been life changing for Auburn. They’ve really done their best to let me know that I was really wanted. I could really see myself being there the next 3-4 years…from the day that I arrive, it’s going to be straight work. We’re going to try and change this program around. I’m going to be the type of player to make the plays needed to get where we’re going. I’m coming back for that natty (for) Auburn.”
Prior to the commitment, Prattville Head Coach Bobby Carr spoke to the players gathered, about the impact Hall has had on the program and his teammates.
“I hope you young guys have been taking notes and watching Deshawn, not just on the field, but how he carries himself every day in life. How he carries himself in the classroom, away from here, and in life. The most important thing I can say about him is that he’s a good teammate, and that’s going to take him a lot further than being on the field. That’s what you’re going to remember. Not just that he was a good player, but what a great teammate he was. I could sit here and talk about Deshawn all day like I could a lot of you guys, but today is about Deshawn,” said Coach Carr.
Prior to his commitment, Hall thanked the crowd in attendance and told them about his goals for 2026.
“I want to finish this year strong, go get that championship, and bring it back to the city,” said Hall.
The rising senior is a multi-sport athlete for the Lions. The Elmore Autauga News named Hall the Autauga County Basketball player of the Year as a Junior, and the Alabama Sports Writers Association named Hall 2nd Team All-State in Class 7A.
Prattville’s 2026 season will kick off in less than two months when the Lions travel to Niceville, Florida.
