The Elmore County Commission received a $2,500 Alabama Semiquincentennial Community Grant to support the county’s commemorations of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
“This will be used to assist Ms. Fox, who has put together the program to have these multiple different events throughout this past year for the 250th celebration,” said Luke McGinty, chief engineer and operations officer. “It will help pay for the entertainment and that sponsorship of that final celebration that’ll take place at the end of June.”
The City of Wetumpka and Elmore County Museum is hosting an Elmore County Celebrates America250 concert on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Wetumpka Civic Center. The event will feature renowned musician and producer Bobby Horton, an Alabama native celebrated for his extensive work with Ken Burns and PBS.
