Second arrest made in Autaugaville Murder, Assault; Leroy Lewis, of Prattville, in custody

A second arrest has been made in relation to a shooting death, and aggravated assault of a separate victim in Autaugaville March 31.

Leroy Lewis, 20, of Prattville has been charged with warrants, murder, aggravated assault, attempted murder and obstruction probation violation. His bond is $60,000.

On April 1st, Autauga deputies arrested Kelmen Merrell King, 27, of Autaugaville and he remains in jail on charges of murder, assault, aggravated assault and attempted murder.

According to Autauga County Sheriff Mark Harrell, this investigation is still very active, and more arrests are possible.

The person killed has been identified as Kaitoria LeCynthia Bankz, a transgender woman. Her brother Cameron Reynolds was shot in the head, but the bullet grazed him, and he was treated at an area hospital.

The shooting took place on Pickett Street, near Hwy. 14. At the time of the original release of information Harrell said it appeared to have been a carjacking gone wrong. Since that time, detectives have discovered more details that involved online chat rooms. That is still under investigation, and no further information is immediately available.
