Recently, a school supply drive was held at the Wetumpka First Methodist Church at the Touch a Truck block party. Despite the weather, there were over 200 people from the community that attended. The cost to attend was a school supply item to donate to the local schools. Families had fun exploring the fire trucks, police cars, armored personal carrier, tow trucks, motorcycles, vintage vehicles, and a RV. They had delicious food from Grumpy Dogs, Frios pops, a train ride, bouncy houses, and face painting for everyone. Through this community event, several school supplies were donated, and a cash donation to the Elmore County Public Schools.
“Thank you to everyone who joined us for the First Methodist Church Wetumpka’s Touch-A-Truck Block Party,” said Children’s Director Ashley Smith.
She continued, “We had an amazing turnout of over two hundred people. Through this community event, we raised much-needed school supplies and two hundred dollars, which was donated to the Elmore County Public Schools. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to all our volunteers and the community businesses who helped make our event a success! I would also like to personally thank Inflate-A-Fusion for donating the bounce houses as well as Grumpy Dog and Frios for the food we all enjoyed!”
