Open House events were held last week for students to meet their teachers for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year for Elmore County Schools.

The times were from 1 to 7 p.m., which gave parents that work, time to meet their child’s teacher for the year. Students got to come to the school, find their new classroom, and meet their new teacher for the school year. A lot of the students that did virtual through the schools from the previous year we’re welcomed back this year for in person learning.

Students and their parents at Coosada Elementary came to the cafeteria to meet with staff for questions about car rider/ bus information, participation in after school activities, clubs and to order Mustang shirts.

Students and their parents at Airport Road Intermediate School participated in an ARIS Open House punch challenge. Each student received a challenge, with numbers from 1-10, and if they had at least five punches, they received a prize. The prize consisted of a bag of books, or a book bag with books and a few school supplies in it as well.

Marcy Stephens, ARIS Principal, stated these prizes were from previous years of donations from the schools, and they wanted to give back to the community. ARIS had tables when students walk in for after school activities, PTO, information for transportation, and to order a Mustang shirt as well.

At Millbrook Middle for 5th and 6th grade, they were greeted by staff directing them to where they needed to go and answered any questions they had as well. Every school had an amazing turn out of parents and students.

The students are very excited to return to school on Monday, Aug. 9 as well as the teachers who will be teaching them.

Also, don’t forget that Monday morning, the seniors of Stanhope Elmore High School will meet at Village Green. At 7:30 a.m. they will be led to school parade-style by the Millbrook Police Department. If you travel along Main Street in the area between Village Green and SEHS, during that time, you  may want to consider an alternate route.

Here is hoping for a fun, safe and wonderful new school year for students, staff and parents.
