ACSO Investigator David Bradley Named Autauga County’s 2020 CrimeStopper of the Year

FROM DIRECTOR TONY GARRETT

CENTRAL ALABAMA CRIMESTOPPERS

Central Alabama CrimeStoppers is proud to announce that we have begun recognizing 2020 Law Enforcement Officers of the Year starting March 1 and continuing through May 1, 2021.  This recognition would normally take place in January at our annual luncheon in downtown Montgomery. Unfortunately, the luncheon was cancelled this year due to the Covid-19 restrictions for crowd size. As a result, this year’s participants will be recognized individually with a limited amount of family and friends present.

On March 12, 2021 Central Alabama CrimeStoppers awarded Investigator David Bradley with the title of Autauga County Sheriff’s Office 2020 CrimeStopper of the Year.

Autauga County Sheriff Joe Sedinger wrote, “I would like to nominate Investigator David Bradley for the 2020 Central Alabama Crime Stoppers Officer of the Year.  Investigator Bradley has been with the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office for over a year and a half and has been assigned to Investigations for 10 months.”

On October 19, 2020 a 72-year-old female filed a report for Fraud-Theft by Charitable Fraud. Investigator Bradley was assigned the case. The victim stated she was contacted by the Wounded Warrior Project.  When in fact, it was a scam artist using the Wounded Warrior Project in name only in order to work their scam.  The victim was conned into sending post office money orders to an address in Arkansas.  Investigator Bradley was able to trace the money orders to a suspect in Malvern, Arkansas.

Investigator Bradley worked with the Malvern Police Department to identify the suspect.   Sheriff Sedinger advised that he nominated David Bradley because of his diligent work effort in not only identifying a scam artist working Alabama victims from Arkansas, but to also convince a scam artist to return money to the victim.  In January 2021, Investigator Bradley received a validated money order totaling $1,500.00 made out to the victim from the offender.

Investigator David Bradley, on the behalf of Central Alabama CrimeStoppers, we are honored to award you with Autauga County Sheriff’s Office 2020 CrimeStopper Officer of the Year Award.

Congratulations!
