Prattville City Council approved a resolution for walking trail improvements at Miller Park, located at 1061 E Popular Street, March 3, 2026, during their regular meeting.
The resolution authorizes the release of funds from Prattville Parks and Recreation to Construction Services LLC to replace the parkโs existing gravel trail with an asphalt surface. The cost is not to exceed $65,870.
District 1 Councilor Wade Newman expressed his support for the resolution after recently visiting the park to hear feedback directly from residents.
โThere was a mother out there with a couple of kids and a stroller, and I asked her what she thought about the park and how she liked it,โ said Newman. โShe said she loved it, but it was a little hard to push the stroller with the gravel surface, so she was in favor of asphalt.โ
Newman also said he spoke with an elderly lady who liked coming to Miller Park to walk but enjoyed the asphalt at the park closer to her home, further highlighting the need for a smoother surface to accommodate community needs.
โI think itโs a great addition just from what I asked the people who were out there,โ said Newman. โI got a lot of good feedback on the asphalt.โ
Council members did not raise additional questions or comments about the resolution before the vote. With no other discussion on the resolution, it passed unanimously.
