The Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated the first microschool in the River Region Thursday, October 9th on location at Level Up School of Innovation in Prattville.  The chamber celebrated with local business representatives, city officials and chamber members in a celebratory ribbon cutting ceremony.

Attendees enjoyed learning more about this innovative option for schools for Elmore and Autauga counties and all were excited to encourage and support the team at LUSI on their opening.  The team at LUSI, Founders Tina Lewis and Erika Ehrlich, are excited about the opportunities that will be given to students today and in the future through this innovative way of schooling.

According to cofounder and learning coach for Level Up School of Innovation, Erica Ehrlich, “Microschools are an innovative, small-scale approach to education that emphasizes student led learning, hands on experiences, and personalized instruction- a rapidly growing model across the United States.  LUSI provides a unique STEAM-focused learning environment where students can explore their passions, engage in project-based activities and develop skills that prepare them for the future.”

Ehrlich further mentioned that not only is this the first micro school in the River Region but that it is the only one serving Elmore and Autauga counties. LUSI is currently open for grades 3rd through 12th grade.  The website states that they offer a hybrid program, meaning that it gives families the ability to meet in person part of the week and gives students the chance to then learn at home the rest of the week.
