The Elmore County Commission recognized Mitch Savage during their work session meeting, Sept. 8, 2025, at the Elmore County Courthouse.

Savage has devoted more than 28 years to the Elmore County Public Works Department, the agency responsible for maintaining and improving the county’s infrastructure.

He began his career in 1997 as an equipment operator and steadily advanced through the ranks, serving as construction supervisor, shop manager, and ultimately assistant highway superintendent.

“We appreciate what he’s done for the county, the citizens, and his fellow workers in his time here with us,” said Bart Mercer, Chairman of the Elmore County Commission.

A resolution presented by the commission commended Savage for his exceptional skill, initiative, and dedication in every role he has held. It also noted the many professional certifications he earned throughout his career.

“The biggest thing we’re going to miss is his experience out there with these young guys and gals that are working, because his knowledge is something that we can’t find every day,” said Henry Hines, Vice Chairman of the Elmore County Commission.

As Savage retires, commissioners wished him well, emphasizing that his leadership has left a lasting impact on the county and the employees he has faithfully served.
