J.D. Miller, a Prattville resident originally from Canton, Ohio, wins Uncle Bob’s Sauces and Rubs’ first annual hot dog eating contest on Labor Day, Sept. 1, 2025, at 17 Springs.
The contest served up both big appetites and big prizes. In just 10 minutes, Miller devoured 13 hot dogs—and just one extra bite—to edge out the runner-up by the slimmest of margins. His efforts earned him a $500 cash prize and a shiny championship belt.
“This is my first food-eating competition,” said Miller. “I saw the event on Facebook and thought it would be fun. The hardest part was just trying to keep going until the end.”
The competition is expected to heat up in 2026, with organizers announcing the grand prize will jump to a whopping $5,000. Miller has already set his sights on returning to defend his title.
“The contest was great, and I look forward to it next year,” said Miller. “Maybe I will practice a little more and try to go for 20.”
