Central Alabama Aging Consortium Holds its Annual May Fest Celebration May 10

From Michael Lamothe

Media Assistant, CAAC

Central Alabama Aging Consortium holds its keynote event of the year on Friday, May 10 at the R.H. Kirkpatrick Agricultural Pavilion at 2224 Highway 14 West in Autaugaville, Alabama 36003, 9am-1pm.

The event, May Fest 2024, is an annual party for senior citizens living in Autauga, Elmore, and Montgomery Counties.  May Fest celebrates May as Older Americans Month and commemorates the first senior citizen social legislation, the Older Americans Act, passed in 1965. Hundreds of seniors will be attending this year’s event.  Seniors who have reserved tickets will be admitted to the event. Sorry but there is no more room for more seniors who have not reserved tickets.

This year’s theme for May Fest is Spring Fling and CAAC staff have been busy putting together an awesome assortment of entertainment.  There will be all sorts of activities, including a performance by Alabama Comedian Jody Fuller.  As usual there will be music, dancing, and assorted games.

20 Exhibitors and Sponsors will provide information and goody bags to seniors. This includes our corporate sponsors, Aetna Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, and Viva Medicare.

The event includes lunch for the seniors, including some barbecued hamburgers and other fixings.

Please consider stopping by and talking to seniors. You will find groups from all three counties and municipalities in the tri-county area.  This is a great visual opportunity and a chance for some good news stories about seniors in our communities.
