Montgomery resident with ankle monitor arrested after pursuit in Millbrook

FROM CHIEF P.K. JOHNSON

MILLBROOK POLICE DEPARTMENT

On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, Millbrook police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for multiple traffic violations on Highway 14. The vehicle continued westbound on Highway 14, passing the Circle K, turning northbound onto I-65. Once on I-65, the vehicle’s driver was observed throwing plastic bags, believed to contain narcotics, out of the vehicle, as it continued to accelerate northbound. After a brief pursuit, the vehicle finally pulled over and the vehicle’s driver, later identified as Clayton D. Stollenwerck, a 43-year-old Montgomery resident, was taken into custody and detained without incident. A search of the vehicle resulted in various drug paraphernalia being located inside the vehicle, as well as the remnants of what appeared to be marijuana inside of the vehicle’s interior. Stollenwerck was placed under arrest, being charged with Attempting to Elude, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Stollenwerck was transported to the Millbrook Police Department for processing and later transported to the Elmore County Jail, where he remains under a $4,000.00 bond.

Apparently the alleged offender thought if he disposed of whatever illegal narcotics or contraband that he disposed of while attempting to elude law enforcement officers, that he’d just have to answer to a few traffic violations. Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement is a criminal offense in the State of Alabama and apparently, he didn’t dispose of every illegal item contained in his vehicle prior to coming to a stop, hence his arrest on multiple charges.

Not only does the alleged offender face his current charges in Millbrook Municipal Court, apparently while being processed into the Elmore County Jail, Stollenwerck was found to be wearing an ankle monitor, at which time he disclosed to officers that he was currently on probation for a previous conviction on a criminal offense, so he will possibly face revocation of his probation based on his new criminal charges.
