The 5th Annual Easter Ornament Hunt created and sponsored by Julianne Hansen Fine Art & Pottery will be held in Historic Downtown Prattville this Saturday, March 30, 2024 from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. or until all ornament cards* are found.
“This all started during the Covid-19 Pandemic when all of the Easter Egg Hunts were canceled,” said Julianne Hansen, event founder and creator of the ornaments. “Folks needed something they could get out of the house and do, but at a safe distance from others. In the first two years, we sanitized each ornament and bagged them individually, wore gloves to hide them and made every effort to keep away from anything inside social distancing guidelines.” Hansen continued, “Unfortunately, many ornaments were broken using this method and we couldn’t regulate who took more than one. The cards are a much better option now.”
Here’s how the event works, visit historic downtown Prattville, Alabama located in the heart of Downtown Prattville. Small business card sized vouchers will be hidden in various locations all throughout downtown, in public spaces. Those who find a card may redeem it for one handmade ornament made by Julianne Hansen Fine Art & Pottery. One card per person. Individuals MUST BE PRESENT to select an ornament. Once a card is redeemed for an ornament, the exchange for an ornament made, then the lucky person has an opportunity to be the “hider” of a new card!
“People know who I am, and frequently follow me around waiting for me to hide a card. This way, I have hundreds of random helpers hiding cards for me and it makes the event even more inclusive!” said Hansen.
Each ornament is a handmade creation, made from stoneware clay from her studio located on the corner of Bridge Street and Main in the heart of downtown Prattville.

Important things to remember:
- ONLY small bags with cards are hidden that will be redeemed at Hansen Fine Art & Pottery during the hours listed on the card. This will make sure the fragile ornaments are intact when received and that the one ornament per person policy is maintained. When a card is found, bring it in to exchange for a one free ornament. There is no catch – IT REALLY IS FREE!
- When you find a card or receive your ornament, take a picture and post to Instagram and/or Facebook with the hashtag #prattvilleornamenthunt along with @juliannehansenfineart
- There will be several opportunities to “find” ornament cards that are hidden in easy to reach areas from public locations. Often cards may be rehidden in the same location at different times of the day.
- Please do NOT tread on or disturb flowers, planters or landscaping. All ornament cards will be hidden in plain sight.
- No ornament cards will be hidden in mailboxes or inside any business.
