BAND DIRECTOR
The MMS 7&8 grade Band performed a concert at Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile, Al on March 21. The band performed their concert in the Medal of Honor Aircraft Pavilion.
The concert was sponsored in part by a grant from the Alabama Council on the Arts “Support the Arts” car tag program along with the Parents In Tune band booster organization. The band students want to express their gratitude to those who helped us have this opportunity.
The band performed a mixture of music from movies, pop tunes, and patriotic selections. The band performed the World Premiere of a new piece of music, Air Base March, written to honor Major Frank Blakey and the men of the 305th Airodrome Squadron. Major Blakey was the commanding officer of the unit and was Killed in Action on the Island of New Guinea during World War II. His name is inscribed on a war memorial outside the Millbrook Civic Center.
