Kennedy Davidson signed her letter of intent Wednesday morning at Victory Christian Academy and her intent is to play volleyball at Southern Union State Community College.

Davidson is the first ever athlete within the volleyball program at Victory Christian to receive an athletic scholarship.

“This is a big deal, signing a letter of intent. Volleyball is not her only sport, she played basketball and is playing softball right now, and overall, she’s a great athlete and even better person. The leadership that she brings and her Christian testimony, Southern Union, you’re gaining a great player,” Victory Christian Athletic Director Adam Childers said.

Kennedy is an impressive three-sport athlete and then some. Her high school athletic career has included basketball, volleyball, track and field, cheer and softball, which she is currently playing in her final season at Victory Christian.

“Kennedy holds a special place in my heart. I remember her practicing basketball when she was a little girl in second grade. I had the privilege of coaching her in basketball and softball. She will be somebody. I’ll miss dearly her on campus, but this is a tremendous accomplishment,” a former coach of Davidson, Mark Gillum said.

Many of Davidson’s other coaches, teachers, Victory Christian administration and her teammates were in attendance to witness Davidson making history for the volleyball program.

“I’ve had the privilege of coaching Kennedy the past two years. I’ve known her for many years and have watched her play since junior high. Kennedy has worked very hard for a long time to reach this point and she’s had many coaches, teammates and her family help her to reach this goal. She’ll be a very hard worker and great addition to the team,” Head Volleyball Coach Brian Williams said.

Davidson thanked everyone that came to celebrate her special signing day. She then went on to thank God for giving her the athletic ability to play the sports she loves, and the support of her family.

“It just feels surreal. I’ve worked this hard and I’m just excited to get ready for the next adventure. Hard work pays off at the end of the day,” Davidson said.

Davidson also thanked her teammates for the encouragement and allowing her to play alongside them. The thanked her past and present coaches as well as her coaches of other sports stating they’ve supported her just as much as her volleyball coaches have.

“Forever an Eagle and always a Warrior, go Bisons,” Davidson said.
