Tuesday evening the Elmore County Commission highlighted multiple success stories involving Elmore County residents. Among those were area wrestlers who competed in state events, bringing home a state champion trophy.

Commissioners praised the athletes, the coaches and the families who work very hard throughout the season to achieve high goals. They thanked the families for supporting their young athletes.

At almost every meeting, the Elmore County Commission recognizes outstanding achievements by Elmore County residents. We find that to be a very positive thing and appreciate the Commission staff for going above and beyond to recognize area residents.

Wrestlers honored include:

Wetumpka High School:

Willie Cox, Senior, 285 lb. weight class

Christian Preston, Senior, 215 lb. weight class

Noah Smith, Senior, 132 lb. weight class

Elmore County High School:

Myles Eyerly, Senior, 285 lb. weight class

Tyler Payton, Freshman, 150 lb. weight class
