With vacations to warmer, sunnier climates taking over for a bit, the return home has opened the door for new events for the newly formed Widowed and Divorced Club.
Tuesdays at 10 a.m. will have the clubbers swishin’ and stompin’ as they learn to line dance. Once tied to country folk only, today girls, boys, men and women are hurrying to Red Hill and Dance studios in the cities because they caught the fever. If your toes are tapping at the thought of dancing, join the fun at Red Hill Community Center, 3558 Red Hill Rd., Tallassee, AL 36078. Whether you take the lessons at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays or go for a full-fledged dance Tuesdays or in the evening at 6:30 p.m., you will be glad you went.
It seems a few of us in the club know the basics and hope to become a little more confident when we take a fancy step and head in a new direction. Occasionally, a dancer forgets which way to turn, and laugh-filled collisions occur.
If dancing is not the road you want to travel, Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Wetumpka Depot, the Players are romping through “Spamalot,” which is a musical based on the 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail. From the efficient Lady in the Lake to knights valiantly searching for the Holy grail, the antics are so wild and wacky that they keep the audience rolling with laughter.
