Register now for the inaugural DINKLEbells Pickleball Tournament December 15-17 at The Fields of 17 Springs in Millbrook hosted by the Alabama State Games and the YMCA of Greater Montgomery. This exciting first-time event promises to bring Pickleball players and fans from across the state together to relish a day of spirited competition and camaraderie. This event is open to all Pickleballers from throughout the state.

“We are thrilled to introduce a new annual event that helps support the mission of the Alabama State Games. Pickleball started back in the 80s, but over the past few years has grown tremendously,” Alabama State Games Executive Director Laura Creel Burt said.

Registration is now open at ALAGAMES.com and competitors are encouraged to register early as spots are limited. Registration will cost $40 for participants and $50 for participants who want our souvenir DINKLEbells T-shirt.

Participants will also be able to compete in additional events – singles, doubles and mixed doubles – for a $5 fee.

Pickleball – a fast-growing sport found in communities far and wide throughout Alabama and the United States – combines elements of tennis, table tennis and badminton, and has gained popularity in recent years, growing to nearly 9 million players across the globe.

“We are excited about the DINKLEbells Pickleball Tournament and showcasing the new Pickleball facility at The Fields of 17 Springs,” said YMCA of Greater Montgomery District Executive Director Adam Schrott. “This tournament will be the first Pickleball tournament in the Millbrook community and we are hoping for a huge turnout.”

Pickleball is a sport for athletes of all ages and all levels of skill, an opportunity to showcase their talents with a paddle and their passion for the sport.

“For as long as Pickleball has been around, not many people grew up playing it,” Burt said. “This is a fun game that doesn’t take long to get the hang of. We encourage everyone to sign up and give it a try.”
