Exercise Classes coming to Eclectic Senior Center; And who likes Bingo?

Elmore/Autauga News

The Senior Center in Eclectic is providing exercise for those of us who are no longer dancing a jig. Geri-Fit is chair exercises for those who prefer sitting, but standing exercise is available for those who still stay on the go.

Starting September 18, 2023, at 9:30 a.m., the class continues twice a week until December 21, just before Christmas.

To those who enjoy a rousing game of Bingo, the Center is the place to be by 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday mornings. Win or lose, the chase to get all your numbers in a row and the great company of other folks is well worth attending the game.

Currently, the Center has put together three baskets to be raffled off at the Cotton Festival. Whether people sell tickets or buy them for their own pleasure, the baskets offer a lot of bang for the one dollar per ticket. There will be three winners and the lucky folks do not have to be present to take home the prize. The first number drawn gets their choice of baskets.

One basket gives Alabama fans a lift as they vie for the Tail Gate basket, which contains, among other things, a portable grill and cold drink tub, an Alabama jersey, plus certificates for good food, or possibly a free oil change for the winner’s car.

Basket number two offers Auburn fans their chance to revel in owning an Auburn jersey, a smores island that uses sterno cups to provide a fire for roasting the marshmallows.

The last basket, although not choosing sides in the Alabama/Auburn competition, offers enough surprises to make the winner glad to take it home.

If you have not been to the Senior Center recently, prepare to enjoy yourselves.  Everyone is welcome to the exercise classes. Should anyone decide to join as a regular, there is good news on that front, too. Recently, a new company began providing lunch meals for Senior Center members. Today everyone raved about the delicious garlic potatoes, along with Swiss steak, vegetable medley, a scrumptious brownie, and a soft roll. There is always cold, refreshing milk, sometimes fruit juice and almost every day tea is provided.

The Center is missing only one thing – more delightful seniors to enjoy good conversation, frequent laughter, and challenging games. Miss Minnie Johnson, the manager, invites everyone to join the fun. She suggests coming for the exercise class as a good beginning.
