MONTGOMERY, Ala. – At approximately 10 a.m. the Alabama Department of Transportation completed emergency repairs to the South Perry Street bridge allowing two lanes on Interstate 85 South to reopen to traffic.
ALDOT had contractors on site since Tuesday morning for emergency repairs. They were able to install reinforcements to ensure the bridge is stable, properly supported, and safe for travel under the structure.
The South Perry Street bridge remains closed and should not be used by pedestrians or vehicles until permanent repairs can be made.
Plans for permanent repairs are being finalized and more information will be provided as soon as available.
Motorists should be mindful of people and equipment as ALDOT crews and contractors are in the area continuing assessments and repairs.
