On Saturday, July 15, 2023, Metro Alabama Crime Stoppers offered a reward, now totaling around $63,000.00, for information that leads to an arrest in the Carlee Russell missing person investigation. Russell has since been located and Russell is no longer considered missing by law enforcement.
Due to this investigation gaining national attention, Crime Stoppers was mentioned to a broad audience, and due to our presence in 30 counties in Alabama, in some media articles, Central Alabama CrimeStoppers was mentioned as the agency offering the reward for the Carlee Russell case. Though Central Alabama CrimeStoppers and Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama do assist one another, Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama is the Crime Stoppers program responsible for managing the Birmingham area including Hoover, AL.
Central Alabama CrimeStoppers offered their support to Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama and actively shared the case of Carlee Russell on social media on behalf of its sister program.
We are thankful Carlee has been located and is home with her family. We thank the community and media for rallying together, showing an incredible outpouring of support for Carlee. Because of everyone helping spread the word and awareness of this case, Carlee is now safe. When we come together for the greater good of others, great things are always possible!
