On Thursday, June 29, 2023, during a session of the Millbrook Municipal Court, an alleged offender, Clayton Davidson, 42, of Montgomery, was found guilty of Failure to Appear and was ordered to serve 30 days in the Elmore County Jail.

Davidson then allegedly fled the court room on foot, running north of the judicial complex and into a nearby residential area. Davidson was apprehended following a brief foot pursuit. Once in custody, Davidson was taken back before the Millbrook Municipal Court, where Judge Lynn Bright reiterated his sentence of 30 days and admonished Davidson for his poor choices. Davidson was taken from the court room and was checked/treated by Millbrook paramedics for minor injuries he received while allegedly fleeing from law enforcement. He was then processed and later transported to the Elmore County Jail, where he will serve his 30-day sentence.

Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson offered the following thoughts.

“I wholeheartedly agree with Judge Bright’s assessment of this incident. This individual made some extremely poor choices, which only made a bad situation worse for him. While it’s never a good time to attempt to elude law enforcement, Mr. Davidson couldn’t have picked a worse time to try his luck. Typically, during a court session, we have more officers on hand than at any other time. It was never a matter of if he was going to be apprehended. It was a matter of how far he’d get before he was apprehended, which ended up being about a block.

“I’ve said for 35 years, if you run from law enforcement, chances are you’ll end up going to jail tired and with more problems than you started with, as demonstrated in this case. Today, officers obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. Davidson, who will be charged with Escape 3rd Degree upon his completion of his 30-day jail sentence. So not only will he be incarcerated for the upcoming holiday, he has this arrest warrant to contend with as well. Poor choices indeed.”
